Everyone on site has legal duties, and the test checks you know yours. This area covers the site induction, permits to work, method statements and risk assessments, and the basic principle that you must take care of yourself and of anyone affected by what you do.
What general responsibilities covers in the HS&E test
- The purpose of a site induction and why it is site-specific
- Your duties under health-and-safety law: take reasonable care, follow the rules, use equipment properly
- Risk assessments and method statements, and working to the method you were shown
- Permits to work for high-risk tasks, and never starting without one
- Reporting hazards, defects and anything unsafe
- The right to stop work if it is dangerous, without being penalised

Assuming health and safety is only the employer's job. Workers have legal duties too.
